She is a famous food vlogger. She had a challenging childhood as her parents were divorced in her early childhood and she lived with her grandparents then. Her grandfather had invigorated her to pursue her culinary skills since he used to cook in local ceremonies in the village.

Li Ziqi is a vlogger and internet celebrity from Sichuan, China. How big of a star, you may ask? Well, she has more than 20 million followers on Weibo alone. On YouTube, she gained 7.6 million subscribers in just over two years. Some estimate that across all social network platforms, she has 60 million fans around the world.


Li's overseas followers have praised her videos for showing the amazingly picturesque, simple and elegant side of China's rural life, but back home, there have long been debates on whether her presentation is unrealistically poetic.

 In her cinematic-quality videos, she quietly paints a picture of her rural life that appears to be coming straight from a fairy-tale.
Despite her popularity, she remains mysterious to most of her fans. She rarely does interviews, makes very few public appearances, and she doesn't respond to rumours and accusations.


SHANGHAI (XINHUA) - After releasing a short video on April 27 about planting and cooking peas, Chinese food blogger Li Ziqi witnessed her followers on YouTube surpass 10 million.


Unlike many other food bloggers, Li's videos set China's countryside as the stage and start with how the foods are planted and harvested on the farm. She rarely speaks in the process.


Li's YouTube videos centre on her life with her grandmother in the rural parts of Sichuan Province. In the videos, Li, often dressed in graceful traditional garments, rises at sunrise, rests at sunset, plants seeds and harvests flowers, cooks Chinese dishes and crafts bamboo furniture.

"In the countryside, planting flowers, vegetables and trees are not difficult. There are tough elements of rural life of course, but I didn't put them in my videos," the blogger said. "Most people today are facing tremendous stress in work and life, so I hope they can feel relieved and remedied when watching my videos."
