John Felix Anthony Cena, favourably known as WWE superstar John Cena, was born on April 23, 1977, in West Newbury, Massachusetts, to Carol and John Cena. He is of an Italian father and French-Canadian and English mother descent and is the grandson of baseball player Tony Lupien. When he was in college, he played football. He then proceeded on to be a bodybuilder and a limousine driver. The 6-foot-1 tall star weighs exactly at 240 pounds and is a very successful superstar in the WWE.

In 2000, the new college graduate left Massachusetts despite his father's wishes, seeking a new life in California as a bodybuilder. It wasn't an easy transition for the 6-foot 1-inch aspiring star. He had just $500 in his pocket to make it across the country and get settled. To make ends meet, he folded towels and cleaned toilets at a Gold's Gym in Venice Beach. Since he couldn't afford an apartment, he shacked up in his 1991 Lincoln Continental.

Cena is a five-time United States Champion, four-time world tag team champion, and a 16-time world champion. He is tied with Ric Flair for the most world championship reigns in WWE history.[a] Of his 16 world championship reigns, 13 of them are with the WWE Championship, which is the modern record for that particular title. He is also a two-time Royal Rumble match winner and a one-time Money in the Bank winner and has headlined several major WWE pay-per-view events, including their flagship event, WrestleMania, five times.
Considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time by his peers, and noted for his strong work ethic. Cena has notwithstanding met with various evaluative and fan acceptance during his career.
Cena made his official debut in WWE after an open challenge by Kurt Angle on SmackDown, where Cena declared he possessed “ruthless aggression” as described by Vince McMahon. Cena narrowly lost the match through a basic roll-up pin, however, his efforts were lauded by senior wrestlers like Billy Kidman, Faarooq, Rikishi, and The Undertaker.
The 16-time World Champion showed off his Wookiee-like energy (without pulling anyone's arm out of its socket) in a video posted to his Twitter account in recognition of May the 4th, which has been celebrated as Star Wars Day in current years.
Nonetheless, his original shot at fame came after feuding with Chris Jericho, whom he exposed in an upset at the Revenge. He then partnered up with Kidman for the first SmackDown Tag Team Championship but lost itself in the first round to Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit which led Cena to turn heel and attack Kidman as he imputed him for their loss. He also feuded with Los Guerreros, winning his personal battle against Chavo but losing the tag team against them alongside Edge.
In 2004, Cena lost out to Big Show in the Royal Rumble. Cena then took it up to defeat Big Show on the next opportunity he got, and he did so at the WrestleMania XX. The victory got him his first United States Championship. He successfully defended his title for just short of four months, after his title was stripped off him in a farcical manner. John Cena accidentally knocked Kurt Angle over, thus “attacking an official”.
However, he then won it back from Booker T at No Mercy, only to lose it again. This time he was defeated by debutant Carlito Caribbean Cool, and the duo started feuding. Allegedly, Cena was stabbed in the kidney by Carlito’s bodyguard. However, this kayfabe injury was used to allow Cena to shoot for his debut film The Marine.

Cena married his girlfriend, Elizabeth Huberdeau, in July 2009. In May 2012, Cena filed for divorce, allegedly shocking Huberdeau. Their messy detachment played out in the media, but they ultimately settled in July of that year.
In 2012, Cena began dating fellow WWE superstar Nikki Bella. On April 2, 2017, he proposed to Bella after they demolished The Miz and Maryse in a tag team match at Wrestlemania 33. Cena and Bella ended their engagement in April 2018, and briefly reconciled before it was reported that they had again gone their separate routes.
